Seven of the Webelos I went on a camping trip this weekend and had an incredible time!

A few of us went up Friday night, the rest joined in on Saturday. We returned around midday on Sunday.

We started the day on Saturday by setting up camp. Once our site was all set up, we took a hike for a couple of hours. The highlights of the hike included using compasses and a map to find our way, searching for signs of the various wildlife found in that area, exploring some fascinating rock formations, and looking at some very impressive beaver dams. Our hike concluded with a steep trek back to the camp site for a well deserved lunch.

Our afternoon activities included time to play, leather crafts, and cutting up vegetables to be used later for dinner. Alex Cena showed the boys how to build a debris hut, which can be used for emergency survival purposes when forced to spend a night in the woods without shelter. Each of the boys built their own debris hut.

In the evening, each of us prepared our dinner, which we cooked in foil in the camp fire. After dinner we roasted marshmallows and made smores.

It started raining around 8:00 at night, so we spent the remainder of the evening in the mess tent with stories and hot chocolate.

By morning the rain had stopped, and the warm weather on Sunday quickly dried things out.

A special "thank you" to Liz and Alex Cena for all of the effort they put into planning and preparing for this weekend! All of the boys (and fathers) had a great time!
